How to Configure Message Logging in Trillian

Start Trillian 2.0 instant messenger and allow it to load in the system tray on your computer. Double-click the Trillian icon from the system tray to open the instant messenger.

Choose the "Options" menu and click on "Preferences" to open the "Preferences" dialog box. Select "Message History" from the "General" section of options on the left side of the "Preferences" dialog box. Once selected, the options for configuring message logging display on the right side of the dialog box.

Click the check box for the "Apply to all Mediums" selection to configure message logging for all of your Trillian connections or uncheck it and then select a connection from the "Medium" drop-down list.

Use the "Automatically Log" drop-down list to indicate what components of Trillian you want to be logged.

Push the "Browse" button beside the "Folder" text box to open a dialog box where you choose the new location of where you want to log the messages. Underneath this option, you can then choose to create a folder based on the chat service or the window type.

Select the "Browse" button in the "Viewer" section of the "Preferences" dialog box to indicate what viewer you want to use to view the message logs. You can also choose to auto show the history in the "Miscellaneous" section.

Press "OK" to close the "Preferences" dialog box and return to Trillian.
