1
Start with a clean face. To prepare your face for your daily makeup, cleanse with a facial cleanser and apply a very light moisturizer. Makeup applied on dirty skin can cause it to be blotchy and smear or flake. Prepare your face for makeup prior to application for maximum staying power.

2
Use a foundation. Not only will a foundation smooth and even out your skin tone, it gives the other parts of your makeup something to cling to to increase wearability. Choose a foundation that is oil free to prevent your makeup from becoming greasy and smearing or rubbing off of your face.
-
3
Choose heavily pigmented cosmetics. Blushes and shadows that contain concentrated amounts of pigment have longer wearability than cheaper cosmetics with excessive amounts of filler. Invest in quality makeup with pure ingredients.
-
4
Set your makeup with powder. When you have completed your cosmetic routine, fix your face by sweeping a translucent powder over your entire complexion. This absorbs excess oil and helps prevent makeup transfer during the day.

Tips & Warnings
If you have oily skin, try blotting papers to absorb excess oil during the day. Pressing these absorbent papers to your oily areas helps keep makeup intact and reduce shine.
Don't add makeup to your face during the day. Layers of makeup will only begin to look cakey and blotchy. If you need to freshen up, use a slight sweep of pressed powder and fresh lipstick.
