A markup tool can be added to text, objects or blank areas of an Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional PDF to indicate when an item in the document needs attention. There are many markup tools to work with including shapes, lines, arrows, sticky notes, highlights, stamps and more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
Step1
Start Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and open a document from your files that contains text or objects to which you want to add a markup.
Step2
Display the "Comment and Markup" toolbar if necessary. Choose the "View" menu, point to "Toolbars" and click "Comment and Markup" to display it on the screen.
Step3
Click to choose the markup tool that you want to use in your PDF document. The markup tools include the Text Edits button as well as the line and shape buttons.
Step4
Click and drag to draw the markup tool that you have chosen in the place in the PDF document that you want to add it. If you have chosen a shape or line tool, you will be controlling how large or small and what direction the shape or line goes.
Step5
Release the mouse button when you are finished drawing the markup tool.
Step6
Type a comment inside the markup tool if you have added a Sticky Note or another tool that requires a comment to be left.
Step7
Choose the "Select" tool from the "Select and Zoom" toolbar to set the markup tool and set your document to a safe working mode. The "Select tool" is in the middle of the "Select and Zoom" toolbar and is depicted by a picture of an "I"-beam and mouse pointer.
