How to Make Friends at a New School

Attending a new school is difficult. Everything is different, and you don't know your way around the school. Making new friends can be hard, and it seems like everyone is in a certain clique. However, you will be able to adjust to, and fit into your new environment.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Take a deep breath, and walk into your new school with confidence. Try to remember that you'll meet kids with similar interests, and you will be able to make new friends.
Step2
Be yourself. Don't change who you are just to fit in with a particular crowd. If people don't accept you for who you are, they are not really your friends.
Step3
Practice good hygiene: Shower daily, wear deodorant and brush your teeth. There is no need for designer clothes, but you can still look neat and tidy.
Step4
Smile when you walk down the halls of your new school. Stand tall. Make the first move by making eye contact with people and saying hello. Strike up a conversation by asking their name and what they do for fun.
Step5
Do something nice for someone. Give someone a compliment on their someone appearance, or save a seat for someone in the lunchroom.
Step6
Join an after-school activity, such as sports or drama. You'll share a common interest with people, even if you don't know who they are yet.
Step7
Sit in the middle of the classroom where everyone is around you. It'll be easier to make conversation that way, rather than sitting in the back where you won't be noticed.
