How to Download TI83 Plus Programs From the Internet

You can expand the power of your TI-83 Plus calculator by downloading programs from the Internet to your computer and then sending those programs to the calculator. The ability to connect your TI-83 Plus with your computer (Macintosh or PC) also allows you to write programs using a keyboard and mouse instead of the more limited calculator keypad.

Instructions

1. Get a cable to connect your TI-83 Plus to your computer. You can get a variety of different types of cables (for example, USB and serial), or if you're resourceful, you can make your own.

2. Acquire software to manage the connection between the computer and the calculator. Again, if you've the time and the skill, you can write your own software. Otherwise, you can download software for free from the Texas Instruments website.

3. Find and download the programs that you want from the Internet. You may have to do some searching, but it's likely that if you've thought of it, so has someone else.

4. Open the interface software. This software allows you to send information back and forth between your calculator and your computer.

5. Send the programs that you downloaded in Step 3 to your calculator. You can then run the programs on your TI-83 Plus at your leisure.

• In addition to the Texas Instruments software mentioned in Step 2, many users have made their own homemade programs available for download on the Internet. If you're looking to save a little money by designing your own cable, you can find homemade software that'll let you interface your computer with your calculator using your cable.
