Poison dart frogs are dazzlingly colored creatures that are generally easy to care for. One difficulty that poison dart frog owners have is the display of aggressive behavior in both sexes of the frog. Fortunately for you and your frog, preventing aggressive behavior is simple.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Provide your poison dart frog with an adequately sized enclosure, even if it's by itself. An enclosure that measures 2 feet in width, length and height is generally a good size for up to two or three frogs. For every poison dart frog you add to the aquarium, add about 1 foot of space in each dimension.
Step2
Raise frogs together if you plan on keeping multiple poison dart frogs in the same enclosure. The frogs are naturally solitary animals, so preventing aggressive behavior entails that you get the frogs accustomed to each other for as long as possible if you're to successfully prevent aggressive behavior among cohabiting frogs.
Step3
Accept seasonal aggressive behavior since females show aggression towards males during mating period and disrupting the mating ritual can lead to further aggression. The important thing is never to put more than one female with any male since the females will fight aggressively over the male.
Step4
Give your poison dart frogs the right kind of food, which is generally very small insects such as ants and termites, in the right quantities. Since there are many different kinds of poison dart frogs, you need to know the exact name of your frog (for example, Phyllobates terribilis) so you can provide it with the proper vegetation, food and heat for its comfortable survival.
