StarFox for the Super Nintendo was the first 3-D game released for a console in America. StarFox used a special modification, called a Super FX chip, which vastly increased the response time of the Super Nintendo. As a result, the game features fast paced combat and split second maneuvers, like barrel rolls.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Tap the R (right) or L (left) button twice to do a barrel roll in that direction. The maneuver causes Fox's ship to spin around, even when you're flying stationary, and lead slightly into the direction of the spin.
Step2
Use the barrel roll to avoid enemy fire. When under heavy laser fire, the barrel roll allows you to effectively dodge the laser blasts. Make sure you start the spin a split second before the beam's impact on your ship.
Step3
Master the barrel roll technique to make most of the game a breeze. Once you get the hang of the roll, especially shooting while rolling, you only have a couple of things to watch out for: impacts and missile fire, which will still damage you as the roll is ineffective against them.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't just try to spin your way through a level. It will work on some of the easier maps but not on any of the more difficult ones. Practice your timing.
