How to Type Text in Fireworks

The Text tool in Adobe Fireworks CS3 is one of the easiest tools to work with in Fireworks. This tool allows you to add and format text that you want to add to your Fireworks canvas.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Adobe Fireworks CS3
  1. Step 1

    Start Adobe Fireworks CS3 and create a new blank document or open an existing document from your files to which you would like to add text.

  2. Step 2

    Select the "Text" tool from the Fireworks toolbox on the left side of the screen. The button is depicted by the letter "A" and is in the "Vector" section in the middle of the toolbox. Once the tool is selected, the properties for the tool will be displayed in the "Properties" pane at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Step 3

    Choose the font, font size and color of font you want to add to the canvas by using the drop-down lists and color well in the "Properties" pane. Here you can also choose the style, alignment, leading, opacity and blend mode for the text you are about to add.

  4. Step 4

    Click in the Fireworks canvas where you would like to type text at. You will see a blinking insertion point indicating that you can type to add the text to the canvas.

  5. Step 5

    Type the text you would like to add with your keyboard. The text will then appear on the canvas in the font and style that you previously have chosen.

  6. Step 6

    Select the text with your mouse and make any changes in the "Properties" pane that you feel necessary.

  7. Step 7

    Choose the "Pointer" tool from the top of the Fireworks Toolbox to de-select the text tool.
