Converting guitar amps into high fidelity speakers without rewiring is a simple process that can be completed in just a few minutes, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the music in just a few minutes without spending money on speakers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Amp
  • Double ended 1/8th inch audio cable
  • Mono-to-stereo adapter
  • 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter
  1. Step 1

Gather all the supplies you need to complete the project. This should include the amp you are converting, a double ended 1/8th inch audio cable, a mono-to-stereo adapter and a 1/4 inch to 1/8 inch adapter. These are all available at any audio store or in the electronics department of a large retailer.

  2. Step 2

Attach the mono-to-stereo adapter to one end of the double ended cable, then to the 1/4-to-1/8 inch adapter. The order should be double ended cable, mono adapter, and 1/4-to-1/8 inch adapter. This order is important for the conversion to work.

  3. Step 3

Plug the open end of the cable into the device you want to use. This will be either a stereo, mixer board or other sound equipment. The end of the cable needs to be plugged into the audio out port. Make sure your amp is turned off, then plug the other end of the cable you made into it. Check that it is on a "clean" channel.

  4. Step 4

Turn on the amp and then turn on the device you are using. Let it play and adjust the bass, treble, and mids to meet your specifications and to get the sound you are striving to create.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the sound doesn't work, go back through the process and make sure you have plugged everything in correctly and completely.
