Step 1
Get natural light first thing in the morning. If possible, keep your bedroom blinds open when you go to bed so that the sunrise comes in to help wake you. This will increase your serotonin, boosting your energy and your positive mood, and even regulates your circadian rhythms, which is that inner clock that can make or break your day.
-
Step 2
It might sound trite but it is true--breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Make sure yours contains some whole grains and low fat protein for lots of long lasting energy.
-
Step 3
Get up and move. If you feel yourself starting to slump at your desk, take a break and walk away. You'll get your blood pumping and the mental break can help you feel ready to tackle the afternoon.
-
Step 4
Drink up. Make sure you are guzzling down enough water every day, as dehydration can sap your energy.
-
Step 5
Load up your iPod with energy boosting tunes. Listening to pulse pounding music will make you feel more energetic almost instantly.
