Things You'll Need

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • Bowls
  • Spoons
  • Grapefruit seed extract
  • Spray bottles
  • Lemon Juice

Instructions

  1. Vegetable Wash

    • 1

      Use a large spoon to mix 1 cup water, 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1 cup white vinegar in a large bowl.

      Put 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract into the mixture and stir.

      Pour the produce wash into a large spray bottle. Vigorously shake the bottle before using.

    Alternate Produce Wash

      Combine 1 part lemon juice with 2 parts cold water in a large bowl. It's easiest to use bottled lemon juice.

      Stir the water and lemon juice with a large spoon.

      Put the mixture into a large spray bottle. Shake it prior to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Let vegetable wash sit on vegetables for five minutes and rinse with water.

  • Do not use homemade vegetable wash on mushrooms.
