Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Infuse God and spirituality into your everyday life to show your values and gain respect. Include God as a part of your daily routine such as beginning the day by listening to a favorite gospel CD, reading an uplifting scripture or praying and meditating for guidance for the upcoming day. Steve Harvey begins his national radio show with 12 minutes of gospel and inspirational music. He is known for refusing to play offensive rap music and for refraining from using four-lettered words during some comedy performances.
Step2
Include humor in your life and interactions with others to breakdown barriers and make others more comfortable. Steve is foremost known as a comedian. He is one of the "Original Kings of Comedy," continues to perform stand-up and has a top-rated sit-com in syndication. His wide smile and ability to connect with average people allowed him to host a couple of variety shows.
Step3
Give to the community. Volunteering for mentor programs such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters is one way many people give, and Steve Harvey gives through his radio show by being a community forum. He informs and facilitates discussion on important topics while trying to be uplifting and motivating.
Step4
Be a well-rounded entertainer and businessman by continually seeking new opportunities that allow you to display your talents. Steve Harvey is a comedian, actor, radio host, television personality, entrepreneur with his own line of men's fashions, producer and philanthropist. Steve himself says he wants to be known as an impact person and not just a funny guy.
Step5
Encourage others to reach their potential. It is not enough to be successful, but you need to also help others be successful by sharing the lessons you learned. Steve founded a mentorship program that targets African American boys, and the goal is to instill goal setting into them by teaching them to verbalize and reach for their dreams. It is his work with his own mentorship program that prompted Disney to ask Steve to collaborate on Disney's Dreamers Academy project.
Step6
Reinvent yourself. At the age of 50, Steve altered his physical image by shaving his head and dropping some pounds. He did this to remain "fly," and he explains that "fly" means looking great while being healthy and spiritually strong.
