Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Play the ball without grounding the club. Before you strike the ball in a hazard you can't allow the club to touch during the address or on the practice swing. If your club touches the ground in the hazard on anything other than the swing it will be a penalty.
Step2
Take the shot with an aggressive but controlled stance and swing. Vijay Singh does not make a single decision on the course without consideration and control. However, he does not lose his course aggression even when hitting out of a hazard.
Step3
Understand when to hit in the hazard and when to take a drop and a penalty. Sometimes it better to take a penalty and forgo hitting the ball out of bad hazard position. Vijay understands and plays the golf course with caution and calculation. He knows sometimes it is better to take the stroke penalty, rather than digging a deeper shot deficit by trying an impossible shot.
Step4
Establish a proper shot base before hitting out of the hazard. Vijay Singh uses proper balance and shot mechanics no matter what the angle of the shot. Do not hit out of the hazard unless you can get sufficient balance for a proper golf shot.
