Decide what you want to sell. Do you have enough items? If you dont, you can always get a neighbor or friend to bring their stuff for you to sell. It will drive more customers to the sale.
Step2
Talk to neighbors and look in the paper. Is a community garage sale scheduled in your neighborhood already. Neigborhood or multiple sales, drive more customers, as a person can stop at several sales at one time. You can also call a relator agency that may host a neighborhood sale. Otherwise, decide when you want to have the sale. Thurs, Fri and Sat are the best days in my area.
Step3
List sale in your local paper. It usually cost a samll amount of money, but it is worth it.
Step4
Call your local non emergency police dept to see if your area needs a permit for a garage sale.
Step5
Price your items. Begin at least 1 week before sale, as it does take time and organization. Remember to price fair. You dont want to give away items, but you also want people to feel they are getting a good deal.
Step6
Organize items you are going to sell. Some items will be able to be placed on their own, others in bins, others on tables.
Step7
Decide what you want to do with items that dont sell. If decided, call local donation center to schedule a pick up.
Step8
On day of sale, make sure items are accessible and displayed well. Have change for customers and plastic bags. "Happy Sale-ing"
