Using your cosmetics sensibly and with reasonable regularity, most of your cosmetics and beauty products will last as long as you want them to.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep cosmetics and beauty products in a cool dark place, and try to make sure that all containers are air and water tight. Heat, light, and moisture will always have a damaging effect on your cosmetics.

  2. Step 2

Air damages your cosmetics by contamination. Cosmetics in open containers are more likely to be contaminated than those cosmetics in a tube. Always make sure that stoppers and caps are completely sealed to container. By doing this safe measure it will ensure that no bacteria can circulate due to air flow into the cosmetic.

  3. Step 3
    Mascara keep it to yourself.

Always be selfish with your cosmetics. What I mean is do not share them even with your best friend. Bacteria is transmitted this way and to avoid infecting one another tell her or him where you bought it and that you only care about them. Bacteria and viruses are not smart enough to pick and choose who they want to invade. I have learned this lesson the hard way. I contracted conjunctivitis(Pink Eye) through using my best friends mascara. It was a painful and expensive lesson. Play it smart and safe.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to replace sponges and eye shadow applicators at least once a month.
  • Bacteria good or bad live everywhere. Be cautious and careful about sharing your cosmetics.

on 5/6/2008 I always wondered about how clean the makeup was that I had over a year. Guess I need to throw out all my old and buy some new, bacteria free makeup : )
