How to Repel Bugs From Plants

With the onset of summer, it is not all fun and games. Humid summer nights can lure in bugs such as flies and mosquitos, who feed on the nourishment of your plants, leaving the leafs with multiple bug bites and perhaps eggs, further adding to the bug problem. Insect repellants can be beneficial, and eliminate those pesky bugs on your plants.

Things You'll Need

• a common bug repellant
• hot pepper wax
• plants that naturally repel bugs
• a spray bottle
• dishwashing detergent
• seeds of plants (Attenuata, Black Locust, Chinaberry Tree, Osage Orange)
• sugar

How to Repel Bugs From Plants

1. Decide whether you want to use bug repellant for your plants or hot pepper wax. Hot pepper wax provides a safe way to ride insects from your plants including gnats, flies, and mosquitos, without having a toxic consequence.

2. Read the directions on the bottle of the product to find out how to apply the product onto the plants. If you opt to use bug repellant, you may try to dilute the product and monitor the plants, this will not only safe money, but may be less harmful to the plants or other elements you may be concerned about.

3. Try planting plants in your garden that naturally repels insects! Common plants that repel insects include the Attenuata, the Black Locust, the Chinaberry Tree, or the Osage Orange. You can find seeds at any store that sells seeds for the garden.

4. If you chose to use the Attenuata as a repellant, mix a teaspoon of dried leaves crushed into a powder with one teaspoon of dishwashing detergent into a gallon of water. Then you will apply the pesticide to the plants with a spray bottle.

5. If you chose to use the Black Locust Tree, simply mix with sugar. The mixture will easily kill the flies.

6. If you chose to use the Chinaberry Tree, add a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent to a gallon of water as with the Attenuata plant. Apply to plants with spray bottle.
