How to Find the Secret History of Adolph Hitler

Hitler is rightly remembered as one of history's monstrous criminals. But what did the world think of him before his rise to power, his launching of World War II, and his zealous anti-Semitic mission to eliminate the Jewish race? Here's how you can find out.

Instructions

1. Head to the Google News historical archives (see the resource link, below)

2. Select 'Advanced Archive Search'

3. Enter [ Adolph Hitler ] in the text search boxes.

4. Enter dates in the "Return results published between..." boxes to find news of Hitler before his rise to global infamy. I ran an initial search between 1910 and 1935.

5. If you have too many results, re-run the search with an earlier end date (eg 1910-1925)

6.

   Look through the results for the earliest mentions of Adolph Hitler. You'll be surprised at what you find. Some of the early press reports are quite complimentary, while others seem to successfully realize the evil that Hitler embodied.
