How to gently let a guy down but still be his friend

So, I happen to run into this problems all the time. Some guy is interested in you but your just not feeling the same way. You want to tell him no but you also still want to remain his friend. What is a girl to do?

Step1

First of all just make sure you give him full eye contact when your doing this process, otherwise he may think that you've got something to hide and we don't need any of that.

Step2

Now lets just say he uses the lines anywhere around "would you like to go out sometime?", "Can I call you sometime?", or "What are your plans for the weekend?" (these are just a few examples)

The best thing you can do is completely be straight up with him, don't give him some lame excuse that you have to wash your hair or something. Guys can sometimes be pretty smart about those things and they'll know when your just putting them off and that will definitely make them mad, then boom ... there goes a friend.

Step3

If your totally honest then they will respect you more. So here are some lines that are straight forward that won't make you sound mean.

"I have to be honest with you, I think your a really great guy and I like you but I'm not sure if I'm ready for anything right now"

or

"Can I be honest with you? I really just want to be your friend"

Step4

Usually most guys, well maybe 90% of guys will respect you and still want to remain your friend. Occasionally you'll get the guys who do not like what you just told them and basically won't take no for an answer. Now when this happens that just means stop talking and don't pick up the phone when he calls. Just remember its his loss not yours!
