Things You'll Need:
- 12 whole fresh mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
-
Step 1
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (or 175 degrees C) and then lightly coat a baking sheet with cooking spray. Next clean your mushrooms thoroughly with a damp paper towel. Carefully break the mushroom stems off. Chop the removed stems extremely finely, discarding tough end of stems. Set aside the chopped stems for later.
-
Step 2
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat and then add the garlic and chopped mushroom stems to the skillet. Fry the garlic and stems until most moisture has disappeared, taking care not to burn garlic. Once the mixture is finished frying, set it aside to cool.
-
Step 3
Once the garlic and mushroom mixture is no longer hot, fold in the softened cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, black pepper, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Keep in mind that the mixture should be very thick. Using a small spoon, fill each mushroom cap with a generous amount of stuffing and then arrange the mushroom caps on the prepared cookie sheet.
-
Step 4
Finally, bake the mushrooms for approximately twenty minutes in your preheated oven, or until the mushrooms are piping hot and liquid begins to form under caps. Serve your delicious stuffed mushroom caps while still hot!
