Did you ever want to learn how to make alot in a little bit of time? What about on special days, or when your just having everyone over for dinner? This recipe is perfect for you. My mother taught me it (depsite me butchering it many times.) and its never failed me. From my guide you'll learn how to make a delicious baked chicken dish, with only half of the hassle.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Two Cups of Water
  • Twelve Chicken Drumsticks (can be substituted with wings.)
  • Two packets of powder gravy (Your choice of flavor, for this recipe we'll be using 'Brown' and 'Mushroom'). You can do homemade gravy if you have time.
  • Your favorite Cajun/Creole Seasoning.
  • Disposable Aluminum Baking pan.

Step1
Preheat the Oven to 400 degrees. While doing this you can get started on the chicken by removing it from its package or thawing it if needed.
Step2
Rinse your pieces of chicken throughly.
Step3
Season your chicken to your taste. I suggest lightly, while no piece should be completely covered in seasoning, if you do it too light it won't get that flavoring we're looking for.
Step4
Fill up a measuring cup with 1 cup of water. You'll need to add the first package of gravy mix and stir throughly. Then carefully pour it into the roasting pan. Repeat step with the other package, so that you've made 2 cups of gravy in all. (See Tips for using homemade gravy)
Step5
Carefully lower the seasoned chicken into the gravy, do this so that each one fits.
Step6
Place in oven CAREFULLY and set your timer for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Step7
After an hour passes, you should check your chicken. It will appear to be a bit golden but its not finished yet. Turn each peace over with caution and let cook for the rest of the time needed.
Step8
Turn off oven, and let chicken sit for a few minutes before you take it out.
Step9
Serve with your favorite side dish. It should have taken 1:45 minutes at least for cooking time, and 5-10 for preparation.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your using homemade gravy of your own recipe, you should be sure to still make at least 2 cups of it.
  • In either case, if the gravy gets watered down and evaporates, add some water and stir in.
  • You can time it to exactly when your guests arrive, and as long as you check it once, you can leave it in the oven why you take care of your preparations.
  • Mashed potatoes are a great side to this dish, Roasted Garlic and Cheddar is my personal favorite.
  • This dish is perfect for holidays, and even college students can easily master this for a good dinner at a low price.
  • If your planning to use less drumsticks, keep the chicken in the oven for 2 hours instead of 1:45.
  • Make sure to follow all cleaning instructions for poultry, and do not let it sit out for too long.
  • Do not handle anything in the oven without protection.
  • Do not use a plastic lid for this dish, it WILL melt at 400 degrees.
