Tin can telephones are a classic toy that can be fun for kids and easy to make. Follow the below tips and enjoy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 soup cans
  • Thick, durable string
  • An awl or similar hole-punching device.
  1. Step 1

Make sure that the edges around the soup can opening are not sharp. Most soup cans are not, but you can never be too safe around young ones.

  2. Step 2

Poke a small hole in the bottom of the can.

  3. Step 3

Thread the string through the small hole in each can.

  4. Step 4

Tie off the string inside the can, so that it extends from the outside, former bottom of one can at the same place.

  5. Step 5

Talk into one can. The other person should put their can up to his ear. The sound will carry along the string and turn these 2 tin cans into a telephone!
