How to Put Contacts in Using Two Fingers

Putting in your contacts can be an annoying hassle--especially to those new to the experience. While most eye doctors will have you place the lens on a single index finger, there’s a little secret amongst those veteran soft contact lens wearers. It’s called using two fingers.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Soft contacts
  • Saline solution

Step1
Rinse your hands off. It’s important that your fingers are clean and clear of debris, hairs, specks and other irritants.
Step2
Douse the contact with saline. Same with the contact lens itself; you don’t want anything on there that will make your eyeball itchy or sting.
Step3
Place the contact right side up on two fingers. Make sure your contact is right side up--ready to lay on the eyeball, and it’s setting atop the point where your thumb and index finger meet.
Step4
Spread the contact across your eyeball. With your other eye, hold open your lid. Use the two fingers to place the contact on the eyeball and slowly spread the lens across the surface of the eye. Do this carefully and quickly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your fingers and the lens are moist so the contact doesn’t tear!
