How to install electrical outlet next to an outlet

After this article you will be able to add an extra electrical outlet next to an existing outlet to have more space for things to plug in.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • blue oldwork outlet box
  • phillips screwdriver
  • straight screwdriver
  • utility knife
  • dykes or cutters
  • torpedoe level
  1. Step 1

    Turn main breaker off in your electrical panel

  2. Step 2

    Hold blue old work box on wall at the desired spot. Use torpedo level to make sure it is straight and level. Use a pencil to outline box on wall. Install wire from new box to existing outlet and install box in wall. Install outlet in box .white wire to silver screw/black wire to brass screw/green wire to ground screw. Do this on new outlet and existing outlet. Put outlet cover on.

  3. Step 3

    Turn main breaker back on. You will now have a new outlet to use. Less extension cords and more plugs..

  • Always take your time when working with electric`. You do not want to forget ant steps
  • ALWAY'S TURN POWER OFF WHEN WORKING ON ELECTRIC
