Networking online is essential to find a good work from home job. Just think about it, if you want to work as a medical secretary you would talk to people you know who currently works in the field. Same goes for online work.
Determine how much time you are willing to spend a week looking a work at home. Set a specific time for your research and try to stick to your goal.
Step2
Create a dedicated email account. You can find a free one through Google or Yahoo. This can be one you send out on your resumes, so be careful how you name your email.
Step3
Be proactive. You will need to be active in at least one large community if not a couple. I suggest at least three. You can find the three below by using a search engine. For example, Work from home forum or (your niche here) Communities.
Step4
Participate in a general job bank community/forum. For example, Monster jobs. Be active in the forums and get all your questions you have answered. Post your resume, but make sure your resume is protected. If you are still currently employed, you may want to think twice about posting your resume. Keep updated with job listings.
Step5
Join a community that has interests similar to yours. This can be several things depending on your desired outcome. For example, if you want to find work at home within the writing community, join the writing community. This can be a place like ehow or any other writing based communities that serve as a mixing pot of the writing society.
Step6
Join a work from home support community, like WAHM.com. The community is usually filled with both individuals trying to find legit work at home jobs and those who have worked from home for years. You can learn from others success stories and mistakes.
Step7
Use a distinct avatar if possible. The picture does not have to be of you, just use something that no one else is using. This is so people can recognize you, when scheming the pages.
Step8
Ask questions and answer questions often. Get know a couple of individuals with similar interests that have work at home jobs. Many times it really does take knowing someone to get a work at home job. You are not looking for a hand out, you are looking for information. Allot of work at home jobs will only hire those recommended by other work at home employees or have general requirements that are not advertised.
Tips & Warnings
Keep positive, success is not meant to be made over night.
If you choose to post your resume in a database check out the small print when you sign up. Make sure you have full control over your resume. Know that just because they say that your boss can not see your resume, that he could if he was not using a company account.
There are allot of people who use forums to advertise, be carefull to not fall prey. You may even be able to use this to your advantage, because many people in the forums will be willing to talk one on one about their program, you would not usually get this any where else. Just make sure you do research else where if it requires any type of start up fee. Remember just because someone says something is legal in a forum does not necessarily mean it is. For example, chain letters. Chain letters are not legal if they have monetary value.
