I learned this in church. During the children's story. This morning. I haven't been a child for over three decades, but this was the first time in my life that I heard the answer to Life's Big Question, "why am I here?"
Just stuff around the house. Anything at all will do.
Step1
Look at your refrigerator (for example). What is its purpose? (Answer: to keep things cold)
Step2
Look at your winter coat (for example). What is its purpose? (Answer: to keep you warm)
Step3
Look at a knife ~ butcher knife, bread knife, butter knife, paring knife. It doesn't matter. What is its purpose? (Answer: to cut things)
Step4
Look at your telephone (for example). What is its purpose? (Answer: to let you communicate with people not next to you.)
Step5
Look at yourself. What is your purpose?
Step6
Did you just stop dead in your tracks, because you don't have an immediate answer to that? I did, too. The answer is (according to the children's story minister at my church): to do good works.
