The Truth About Free Advertising Sites

Let me be clear about one thing at the beginning: This article is not about Free Publicity -- the kind you get by sending out Press Releases to selected media including on-line publications like EZineArticles.Com

What kind of people advertise for free? Usually, the kind of people whose motto is, “Why should I pay for anything if I can get it for free?”

Here’s what my Internet friend, Richard Legg, says,

“Most free advertising methods attract people who are not willing to pay for advertising. And if they are not willing to pay to advertise their own business, do you really think they are going to buy anything from you?”

There are no free dinners. The site owner’s objective in offering a free advertisement is only to get traffic to his or her site.

As more and more site owner’s offer free advertising, their sites become a glut of advertisements that are only read by opportunists whose only objective in reading the ads is to send their ads and sales pitches to the luckless, sitting duck, advertisers!

If you don’t want to be a target for Spam, don’t be tempted to use Free Advertising Sites, with just one exception, and that is, Craigs List…

Mostly free! Use it to sell everything from Advertising Tips to Zithers. I used it successfully to advertise a rental property I own in Venice, Florida.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • You need to know who your targeted niche market is.
  • The more you know about prospective buyers, the better.
  • You need to have a prewritten classified advertisement.
  1. Step 1

Check out what the competition is charging for a comparable product or service.

  2. Step 2

Remember than Benefits Sell and Features Smell.

  3. Step 3

Remember the one thing that is always uppermost in the mind of the prospect, is, "What's in this for me?"

Tips & Warnings
  • You have three choices: 1. Charge more than the competition (if you can justify the higher cost.) 2. Charge a similar price. 3. Undercut everybody.
  • The problem with undercutting everybody is that they, and new advertisers, are likely to charge an even LOWER price.
  • There are two aspects about a price-cutting war you should be aware of: 1. The one with the deepest pocket invariably wins. 2. Entering a price war is one of the fastest ways to go bust!
