Things You'll Need:
- a computer
- an internet connection
-
Step 1
First of all, you know you’re looking at an IP address if it’s 4 sets of numbers between 0 and 255 separated by periods. For example, 69.123.48.92. That's the number that identifies your individual connection to the internet.
-
Step 2
The easiest and fastest way to see your IP is to go to whatismyip.com. When that page loads it puts in big, bold letters "Your IP Address Is" and then shows you what it is. That website will work for anyone using any computer whether it's a mac or a PC or whatever. But since this article might outlive that website, I'll keep going.
-
Step 3
Another sure way to find your IP in Windows, but only if you don't have a router or a modem that functions as a router, is to go to the control panel and open Network Connections under Network and Internet connections. It will open a window listing all your connections. Find whichever one is listed as "connected" (should have blue screens instead of dark screens on the little icon) and double click on it. The network properties should pop up. Click on the support tab and it should list your IP address right there. If it starts with 192.168 and also sometimes when it starts with a 10 then you're using a router of some sort and it's not showing your real IP address otherwise that should be it.
