Have you been asked to teach childrens church and you worry how you are going to keep children occupied for about 2 hours. Or maybe you are looking for new ideas to do with your children. Childrens church is easy and fun in you plan if right. here's are a few of my tips

Step1

First thing you need to do is find at least about 7 songs to teach the kids. Or you can go to almost any store and buy a sing along Cd. It is important if your teaching the songs that you know them yourself as well. If you want to learn the children's name fast buy some labels to place on the children shirts with their names on it.

Step2

Plan what do you want to teach them. A good lesson to start with is obedience everyone has funny stories of themselves not obeying when they group up write down at least 4 stories you would like to tell about obedience. Write down a couple of questions to use as bible trivia at the end of the lesson.

Step3

Have a way of accountability when the parents pick up and drop off the children, it makes the visitors at easing knowing we are protecting their children. Before you start teaching it is good to let everyone go to the bathroom in the beginning so you don't have allot of interruptions. Pick a couple of children to be your helpers if you need assistance

Step4

Start off with prayer have a couple of children pray and then you pray as well. You can have them share good news next this is a great opener and the children love participating. After good news sing a couple of songs don't be boring be entertaining and energetic get on their level. You can bring a Cd player and play a bible songs and have them sing along

Now that you woke them up a bit with singing get started with their lesson. Try to put them in the stories have them volunteer to act out the stories you want to teach them. Have at least 4 skits you can have them act out to understand the lesson, This will help them remember the stories. After the lesson have snack time. Juice and cookies is a good snack for them and a half sandwich. Have your helpers assist you in passing out the food. After snack time ends, have a couple of people come up and share what they learned. When they finish sharing have bible trivia ask them questions about the lesson and if they answer right they get a piece of candy. The kids will be very excited to participate.

During bible trivia parents should start coming to pick up their kids, and you will be very surprised how smooth things went.
