How to change permalink structures in word press

Permalink structures are the urls created for each post in word press. By default the structure looks like “www.yourdomain.com/?p=N”. If you are trying hard to comprehend that url, guess how the googlebot would like it. Change the default structure to more comprehensible one in 5 simple steps

• Admin Login details

1. Login into your wordpress admin panel
2. Click Options > Permalinks
3. Choose “custom”. If you have decided your permalink structure, type it in the blank provided or copy, paste this structure.
   
   /%category%/%pastname%/
4. Click “update permalink structure”.

Tips & Warnings

• Many permalink tags are available like /%year%/, /%author%/ etc. For a full list of options visit wordpress.org
• Decide on a permalink structure once and stick to it. This will avoid creation of duplicate content on the site.
