Sometimes washing your toddler' s hair can be a very daunting and sometimes exhausting task. After several attempts, I have come up with a way that has worked with both of my children.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Baby shampoo
  • 2 to 3 wash cloths
  • a towel
  • some bath toys

Step1
Adjust the water tempter.
Step2
Have your toddler get into the tub before it fills up.
Step3
Wet a washcloth and begin to wet down their hair while they are playing with their toys.
Step4
Apply shampoo gently and massage the scalp.
Step5
Begin rinsing the hair with the washcloth. Asking your toddler to close their eyes and wetting their face from time to time.
Step6
toddler bath rinse cup. Announce that it is time to rinse the hair. Using a cup, gently pour water from the back of the head to the scalp.
Step7
Blot their face with the towel and you're done!

Tips & Warnings

  • Allowing the toddler to be in the tub while it fills will get them used to the rushing water.
  • Using a rinse cup is very effective. These can be found in any department store. .I found mine at Wal-mart for under 3 dollars.
  • Use calm, flowing motions while washing your toddler.
  • Every child is different. You may need to have the tub fill at a slower rate if they are uncomfortable.
  • Make sure you have enough washcloths and towels handy.

on 4/29/2008 My 18 month old has started using the cup recently. His sister is pretty good with it, but the boy keeps soaking down the cat! It is still a good product though. Thanks for your feedback.

on 4/29/2008 Some kids will even use the rinse cup by themselves! Not mine, of course ;) I'd have them look for the birdie on the ceiling so they'd look up when I was rinsing...they fell for it everytime! 5 stars :)
