In today's world, recycling is a must for everybody. Coming up with new, innovative ways to use plastic can help our ailing planet and reduce our carbon footprints. One easy way to contribute is by recycling your old medicine containers.
We all have them. Sometimes they are so old we can barely read the expiration dates. Usually, we just toss them out with the rest of the trash; however there are several uses for these containers which can help you in your everyday routine.
One use for them of course is storage. For those of you into scrap booking and other artistic venues, these containers are perfect for those small snippets which usually just pile onto the corner of your table. Beads, buttons, and variety of other small items are easily stored and readily available. No need to sort through your supplies either. With the see-through containers you can see what you need immediately. Gardeners can use them to sort seeds. The bottles help the seeds by protecting them from light and humidity.
For bigger wide mouth bottles, I make mini first aid kits to keep in my car. Several band-aids, alcohol wipes and other emergency items fit neatly into these bottles and stay dust-free. I also have a condiment bottle section. I usually take salads with me to work and in the bottle I will take salad dressing or croutons and add them later. This way the salad is crisp and fresh when I'm going to eat it.
For potted plants these bottles can be used to keep the plants watered. Make a small hole in the bottom and bury the bottle into the soil, add water so it will seep into the soil.
If none of these options suit you, you can always donate the bottles to your local vet. They can use them to dispense pet medication.
