Submitting your site to Digg and asking people to digg it for you is great but what's even more powerful is in taking part of the community of Digg; namely making friends. Then you can ask them to digg your page for you.
Visit some of the links from the digg.com page that interest you. You can filter by search or by choosing a category.
Step2
Be sure to digg the pages you enjoy.
Step3
This is where you find who submitted the story
If you find a story you like, the next thing you should do after digging it is to add the submitter as your friend on digg.
Step4
Click the submitter's name. In the photo above, this was 'showpup' (which is me, btw) This will take you to their profile page on digg.
Step5
If you wish to add them to your friend's list, click the 'Add Friend' next to their name.
If they are already your friend, that area will say 'Remove Friend' instead.
Step6
Now they will receive an email and a notice on their digg profile page that you are their 'fan' and they can then click the 'Add Friend' link next to your name. Then you will be 'mutual friends'.
Step7
If you get any fan notices, be sure to add them as your friend. Mutual friends are so much nicer... (and some digg users may delete you from their friend's list if you don't reciprocate)
Step8
Once you have some friends built up and feeling more confident, it's time to start sending some shouts. These are a mini-chat type feature of digg where you can ask your friends to digg your stuff, and you can digg theirs when asked as well.
