How to make holiday cookies

Here's a tasty and good-looking cookie to take to the holiday cookie exchange, yet is easy enough for a child to make! These cookies make a great "I did it myself!" holiday teacher gift! The only ingredients you need are candy canes and a tube of refrigerator sugar cookie dough.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• tube of sugar cookie dough
• candy canes
• ziplock bag
• towel
• hammer
• cookie sheet

1. Preheat oven according to the directions on the cookie tube.

2. Unwrap and slice the cookie dough. Arrange the slices on the cookie sheet.

3. Unwrap a couple of candy canes and place them in a ziplock baggie. Wrap the baggie in a towel and use a hammer to crush the candy canes. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes on top of the cookie dough. Gently press the candy into the dough.

4. Bake until done, according to the directions on the package.

Tips & Warnings

• Refrigerator cookie dough cooks quickly, sometimes faster than the directions indicate; be sure to watch it carefully so it doesn't get too brown.
