Are you looking for a new career or some extra money, but want to work from home? Photography could be the answer. There are many ways to make good income from photography. Today I will be going over Micro Stock Photography. This is a new industry that has been opening doors for everyday people that enjoy photography. Its easier than you think.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A digital camera that can take 4 megapixel images or larger
  • A decent computer
  • An internet connection

Step1
First you need to know how to use a camera. The best place to start is your camera's owners manual. There is a lot of good info in there. If you do not understand the lingo, search it on the internet to find out more. Knowing how to use your camera to its best is the first major step in photography.
Step2
Go to the various micro stock photo sites and sign up as a photographer. You can get a good list of microstock sites and even more info about them at MicroStockPhotography.com which is linked to in the below resources section of this article. Don't upload any images yet. Read their help guides and terms. Many of the sites help you get started and give you in detail information about what they are looking for.
Step3
After you understand what stock photography is by checking out the sites, look through your photos. Many times you already have a good collection of photos that can start making you money.
Step4
Once you find or take some photos to upload, you need to clean up and keyword your images. Most cameras come with software to help clean up your images. Check what you have. Look in your camera box. There is bound to be something. There are many applications on the web for free to help you keyword your images. If you are running Windows, Microsoft has a little program called Photo Info you can install for free. Search that in your favorite search engine. I like Google.
Step5
Now that your images are cleaned up and keyworded, you can start to upload them. Don't get ahead of yourself. This takes some time to understand and get the hang of. Your images may get rejected. Don't get upset or bothered by it. It happens and will help you get better. Start with the sites that do not make you pass a test or jump through hoops. Those site are usually harder to get in and only want seasoned photographers. Don't worry, you will get there.
Step6
Ok, what are you waiting for. That's all I have for now. Get started and enjoy it. Remember, it takes some time to get it down. Don't quit.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read the forums at the various stock sites and tips on the internet. There is a lot of information out there to help you.
  • Don't be to quick to quit. If your images do not make the cut on some of the sites the first time, read more about the reasons your images were rejected. Most of the time its something simple that will make you a better photographer.
