A stuck or dead pixel can be caused by a transistor malfunction or an uneven distribution of liquid in the LCD (liquid crystal display). Either way, it can be an annoyance. Here are some techniques that may help. Please be warned, you could have a complete loss when tapping or putting pressure on an LCD assembly.

Things You’ll Need:

  • cloth
  • Pen or pencil
  • Software

Step1
Available Software
Try installing software for correcting pixels. It repairs stuck pixels through repetitive operation and resonance. Most stuck pixels are repaired with 20 minutes.
Step2
Apply Pressure

Try turning off your computer.
Step3
Get a damp cloth not a wet cloth.
Step4
Get a pen or pencil
Step5
Fold the cloth several times to insure you don’t puncture or scratch the screen
Step6
Put the folding cloth on the pixel
Step7
Apply pressure with the pen or pencil
Step8
While applying pressure, turn on your screen
Step9
Remove the pressure and the pixel should be gone.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you apply pressure only on the pixel
  • You may have to attempt these techniques a few time
  • If these techniques do not work, you may have to replace your LCD.
  • Check with the manufacturer for replacement warranties.
  • Do not open monitor. It will void your warranty
  • Do not press to hard on the screen.
