How to help your kids be thankful

Sometimes I feel like we are raising such a selfish generation. We are living in a "right now" time and our kids are picking up on that. Here are a few simple, practical steps to help your kids be thankful everyday.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • your kids
  • a journal
  • a pen/pencil
  • a little time
  • an open heart and mind

Step1
Have your children write at least 5 things they are thankful for every day (if the child is too young, you may write it for them).
Step2
Have your child write at least 3 things they can do for someone else today (again, if your child is too young to write, you can write down their suggestion).
Step3
Have your child write down at least 3 things that were done to/for them today that made them feel thankful
Step4
Each week review your journal together

Tips & Warnings

  • Allow your child to make the cover of his/her journal special with stickers, their name, and customize it to their liking.
  • make this a special time that you set aside each day
  • You could break this up and do the first 1/2 in the A.M and the second 1/2 in the P.M.
