Oh no! You pre-treated a stain on your clothes and the laundry detergent stained your clothes. Don't fret there is hope for those white jeans. Taking out detergent stains is actually fairly easy if you follow these steps:

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Bar Soap
  • Vinegar
  • Oxygenated Cleaner
  • 15-30 mins

Step1
First dampen the stained areas of your clothing with water.
Step2
Take a bar of soap and rub it into the stained areas and rewash the clothing.
Step3
If this does not help then soak the clothing in undiluted white vinegar 15 to 30 minutes until the spots disappear and rewash. The smell will go away during the wash if you add fabric softener.

Tips & Warnings

  • To avoid this in the future, use uncolored liquid detergent
  • Add detergent only after starting to fill the washer (add to running water)
  • Wash immediatly after pre-treating stains
  • Add an oxygented detergent (like oxy clean) to sensitive fabric washes
  • Never soak in undiluted bleach, this ruins fabrics
