      If you are allergic to poison ivy, then you know how bad it can be. The itch, the rash, and it spreads any where the rash leaks to. If you know you have ran into poison ivy, apply alcohol immediately. Just splash it on your skin, do not use a rag.

      Calamine lotion has been an old stand-by, for helping dry out a poison ivy rash. Apply calamine lotion 2 or three times a day, during the leakage stage, when the rash is still oozing liquid. You can stop using it, when the rash stops leaking.

      Use an antihistamine like, benadryl. You may also try using a cortisone cream to help with the itching. Hang in there, it will be over soon.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember to wipe down things that were touched by the poison ivy. If it was on your shoes, wash them.

  • Always wash your hands before and after, applying any medications to the affected area, remember it spreads like a wild fire.

  • Keep the rash area as dry as possible to help prevent it from spreading.
