Step 1
Select your stones.
Choose stones that are smooth, flat, and of uniform thickness. It should fit comfortably into your hand and be light enough to easily throw. -
Step 2
Place the stone in your hand.
Hold the stone in your hand using your thumb and middle fingers. Curl your other fingers under the stone without holding it too tightly. -
Step 3
Throw the stone.
Face the water at a very slight angle. Lift your arm up and use a snapping motion to rapidly extend your arm towards water. Release the stone when your arm is fully extended. The stone should be thrown outward at a slight downward angle to allow the stone to slide across the surface of the water. For best results release the stone quickly with a wrist snap.
