There are times when hair seems to have a mind of its own. Curly and straight hair can frizz up when there is humidity in the air. Try combing your hair into place, and if the strands stand on end looking as if you just suffered an electric shock, then you have frizz. Curly hair often feels wiry to the touch. Curls no longer look uniformed and seem to go every which way. You may feel as if you need to dig in the back of your closet for your hat that you have saved especially for situations such as these. As you look in the bathroom mirror, a brown paper bag to put over your head seems to make sense at the moment. Before you go looking for that paper bag that will conceal your hair to the world, try the following tips. You may be surprised that they can help you take control of your hairstyle and smooth the frizzy away.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Conditioner
  • Diffuser
  • Empty spray bottle
  • Fabric softener dryer sheet
  • Leave-in conditioner
  • Non-frizz shampoo
  • Non-Frizz conditioner
  • Smoothing serum
  • Water
  1. Step 1

Pour some water in an empty spray bottle and spray it on your hair. Try combing it and see if this helps.

  2. Step 2

If you need more than water, open the spray bottle and pour a few drops of conditioner in it. Make sure that the spray bottle is tightly closed and turn the spray opening so as not to spill. Shake the mixture vigorously. Conditioner has a tendency to float on the surface of the water, so make sure that the water and conditioner are mixed thoroughly.
Spray this home-made concoction onto your hair for quick results. This works well on curly and straight hair.

  3. Step 3

After you have washed your hair, always spray on leave-in conditioner. This will also help you to minimize frizz.

  4. Step 4

Purchase a diffuser for your hair dryer. This will help to help eliminate your hair from standing on end. If you don’t have a diffuser, blow dry your hair on a cool setting.

  5. Step 5

Applying a smoothing serum to your hair can help you to achieve the look that you want. Apply small amounts of this product, as too much can make it look greasy and heavy.

  6. Step 6

Deep condition your hair at least twice a week. Leave this in for about 20 to 30 minutes.

  7. Step 7

If you have straight hair that has a lot of static and flyaways, find a fabric softener sheet. These are usually tossed in the clothes dryer but they work wonders on straight hair. Just take the sheet and fold it in two. Take large sections of your hair and run the sheet down this section. You will be amazed at how quickly your hair settles down.

Tips & Warnings
  • Purchase non-frizz shampoo and conditioner.
  • For some people, using a straightening iron can help to deal with frizzy hair.
  • Do not use products that contain alcohol. This will only dry your hair and make the frizz even worse.
