- 1-1/3 cups all purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1-1/4 cups and 1 tsp. sugar
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 32 oz. fresh blackberries
- 2 cups water

Stir together the 1-1/3 cup of flour, 2 tsp. of baking powder, 1/2 tsp. of salt and 1 tsp. of sugar in a large bowl using a fork. Combine the 2/3 cup of milk and 2 tbsp. of softened shortening into the mixture, stirring until soft dough is formed.

Remove the stems from the wild blackberries and gently wash them under cold water.

Pour the 32 oz. of blackberries, 2 cups of water and the 1-1/4 cups of sugar into a large saucepan. Stir well before turning the burner on high heat and bringing the mixture to a boil.

Reduce the heat to medium and use a tablespoon to drop dough into the boiling mixture. Cover the saucepan and cook for 10 minutes before uncovering and cooking for another 10 minutes.
