In this excerpt you will learn my trick to packing items (NOT food), all the while saving space, & money on those other bags.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Trash Bags (or any plastic bag free of holes)
  • Vacuum Cleaner w/ the hose attachment
  • Packing Tape or Duct Tape, or Zipper Ties

Step1
Have you ever seen those commercials on TV or see the Space Saver Bags in the store? If you have you have probably thought to yourself that you should be able to do the very same thing and not spend $10 on a bag to do what it does. So here is my trick to saving $$ and making heads or tails of it all.
Step2
Depending upon if you are packing for a move, or a trip lie out all of the materials that you will need. Place a bag in the vessel that you are packing up, if you're just using your bags as is then go to step 3.
Step3
Place the clothing or non-food items into the bag, insert the vacuum hose into the bag and if you are using zipper ties place a zipper tie around the outside of the bag around the hose. Turn on the vacuum and remove the air from the bag. Grabbing the neck of the hose from the outside of the bag just over the zipper tie, pull out the hose. Hold the bag tight while pulling the zipper tie tight. Finish off with tape and voila you have a vacuum sealed bag, for about 50 cents.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not do this with food, except with food grade approved vacuum systems.
  • Keep small loose items away from the hose, as these may clog your vacuum
