How to Cook Excellent Hamburgers

The original technique with slight addendums, that made McDonald's Hamburgers worldly renowned, produces excellent burgers and saves you time at the grill for tending to other cooking duties.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Set the grill at 325 degrees. Chilled burgers placed on the grill will bring the temperature down. 300 to 325 degree cooking is fine.
Step2
Cook the burgers until they're completely done on one side before you turn them over. After you turn the burgers over, if blood comes to the top, turn it over again. (That means you turned it over too quickly the first time. Practice makes perfect).
Step3
Use the same cooking technique, if you're broiling with charcoal.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're diet or taste conscious select ground chuck (only 20% fat) or ground round (only 10% fat). Typical 100% beef burgers are 25% fat.
  • Hamburger meat, in a store not labeled 100% beef, is a different color than meat labeled 100% beef.
  • A doctor may warn you, if you're allergic to horse meat, not to eat hamburger meat.
  • Don't take a cook or restaurant owners word for the ingredients of a burger, if they won't put it in writing on the menu or on the wall.
