Shoes make the outfit. Or rather, if you have well-made, attractive, simple but chic shoes, then it will make the rest of you look more put-together. And heels just aren't you? So, this is about how to have a shoe collection of simple but chic flats - regular flats, sandals, and boots. Now all you need is some American Apparel basics, perhaps touches of Anthropologie, and a Chloe bag?..

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Sense of your own style
  • Some money
Step1
FLATS
These are the staple year-round. They go well with skinny jeans and dresses, and black is a great simple color that looks great with every skin tone. Add little touches with a bow, a t-strap, a bit of geometric detailing. Maybe have a flat or two in a rich color that you like, like deep emerald green or burgundy.

SANDALS
Then there is the summer wear, when you want to keep your feet free, and feel airy. Luckily there are so many different kind of sandals out there. They look great with your summer-wear, sun dresses, cut-off jean shorts, mini-skirts, and ankle-length skinny jeans.

BOOTS
Lastly, boots. Knee-length boots are always chic in suede or leather. They go well with tucked-in jeans, & above-the-knee dresses (not minidresses). Booties are a bit more "cool", and also work well with tucked-in jeans, and if you have long legs, shorts or mini-dresses. Try a cream-colored if you have fair skin. Black and a "whiskey" brown are great as well.

Tips & Warnings

  • Buying quality shoes will ensure that your shoes will last for a long time. So buying leather or suede, not man-made materials, likely means it is of a higher quality/will last longer.
  • Neon/bright colors may be "in" this season, but think about it - are they really your style? Do they really suit you? Look good is about finding what works for YOU, not following the latest trends.
