Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
The first and most important rule of keeping a poker face is consistency! Your body language, behavior, and facial expressions need to be exactly the same for every single hand, good or bad. When you have consistency, there is no way to tell when you have a good or a bad hand. It's when you change your behavior that people can tell you're bluffing.
Step2
Sometimes you can't help but to smile when you see you have four aces. A good trick to keep you from smiling is to clench your teeth together. Decide what your move will be before your turn then try to forget your hand and distract your mind with something else. When your turn comes up, don't think about what you have, think about what the move you've already planned in advance (obviously if another player goes all in, you might need to re-evaluate this plan). If you have ADD this might be easier for you to temporarily 'forget' your hand.
Step3
When you're bluffing or you have a good hand, consciously think about your facial muscles and your eyes. Make sure your nostrils don't flare, keep your breathing regular, and only blink when you need to. Also be sure that your eyebrows don't 'bounce' up when you get a good hand. DO NOT re-adjust your position in your chair! This one of the most recognizable tells in poker. Save shifting in your chair for when you're in between games.
Step4
Be confident! Treat every move you make like they're orders from a general. Try to plan your move during other players turns. If you don't have the luxury of planing your move in advance, take time to think during your own turn. DO NOT sigh, or scratch your head! Calmly sit in your chair and think about what you're going to do, then when you're ready, make your move with authority. Don't be hesitant. Act as if you're totally in control of yourself.
