Promote healthy healing of wounded tissues in order to prevent or reduce scarring as much as possible. Apply aloe vera gel two or three times each day and resist the urge to pick at pimples or scabs. While deep wounds may still leave a scar, aloe vera will aid in healing, reduce dryness and help stop the itch, softening the final scar.

Apply a light layer of vitamin E oil to scar tissue two or three times daily to help soften facial scars. Vitamin E is an essential vitamin in healthy skin and the production of new skin cells. You can simply poke a vitamin E oil capsule with a clean needle and squeeze onto the affected area. Results should be obvious in about 10 to 15 days.

Use essential oil of lavender as you would a regular facial astringent each morning and at night before bed. Astringent is best used before you apply your moisturizer or vitamin E and can be used on your entire face to soften facial scars and promote healthy skin. Lavender is a bit strong, and should be diluted with water. Generally one part lavender oil to four parts water is sufficient.
