How to React Immaturely When Someone Insults You

When someone throws an insult at you, oftentimes your first instinct is to throw one right back. Reacting immaturely to an insult is common among teens and unfortunately, sometimes with adults as well.

1. Call the person an ugly name. Use words like stupid, ugly or ignorant in your reaction to the insult. Roll your eyes and stand with your hands crossed over your chest.

2. Shout back at the person after they insult you. Use wild hand gestures and even act like you're ready for a fight. Remember not to actually fight though, as immature people don't often follow through with threats. Immature fights are generally all trash talk.

3. Use profanity. Regardless of what you say back to the insulting person, using profanity makes it appear that much better of an insult and is the way an immature person speaks. If you want to be very immature, you should consider calling one of their family members an insulting or even profane name to harden the blow.

4. Get other people involved. Tell a friend or a sibling what the person said about you and how you chose to react because gossiping about other people makes you look immature and silly.

5. Spread rumors about the insulting person, preferably a rumor that isn't even true. Tell one or two people then sit back and watch it swirl. Deny any involvement in the rumor if it comes back to you.

Tips & Warnings

• Always have a comeback ready around people you know that like to insult you. After saying the comeback, remain smug and wait for the other person to make their move.

• Don't just walk away from the situation. A truly immature person reacts before he thinks, so just do the first thing that comes to your mind that might offend the insulting person.
