How to Move the Start Menu to the Top of the Screen in Windows
You don't have to leave your computer screen looking like everyone else's. Think about moving some of the normal elements around. The Windows Start Menu is a great place to start. Try putting it on the top of the screen instead of the bottom.

Right-click on the start menu, currently located on the bottom of the Windows screen.

Locate the "Control Panel" link in the start menu. Find the "Appearance and Themes" icon and right-click on it. If you do not find "Appearances and Themes," right-click on "Help and Support" and search for it.

Double-click on the "Task Bar and Start Menu" icon. Remove the check mark from where it says, "Lock the Task Bar." This action unlocks the start menu.

Close all windows or programs that you currently have open.

Place your curser on the start menu. Right-click and drag the button to the side and then up to the top of your screen. Release the mouse button and your Windows start menu should be in the right place.

Repeat Step 1 through Step 3 and replace the check mark on "Lock the Task Bar." It is always a good idea to restart your computer after making changes.

Check to see if the task bar is locked by right clicking anywhere in the task bar menu area that does not have a program.
