A "greaser" was a term used to describe working class youth in the 1950s who slicked their hair back with a greasy pomade. The term greaser returned to popular culture with movies like "Grease," "The Outsiders," and "West Side Story." Wear the greaser look daily or create it for a costume party.
Wet your comb with warm water. Dampen your hair slightly by running the wet comb through your hair.
Apply a small dollop of pomade into your hands. You can find pomade at any beauty supply store or drug store in a variety of holding strengths. Purchase an "extra hold" pomade to ensure your hair stays in place.
Work the pomade into your hands by rubbing them together. Then, work the pomade into your hair with your fingers. Apply more pomade as needed.
Part your hair on one side with the comb. Pull the small teeth of the comb through the hair on both sides of the part to slick it back. Comb from the hairline to the back of your head.
Slick each side back so the ends of the hair on each side meet in the middle. And, then make a part with the comb at the back of your head, down the middle of the hair where the two slick backed sides meet.
Create a pompadour. Follow the previous steps, and then comb the front of your hair straight up with the large teeth of the comb. Comb the front of your hair until it is standing straight up.
Comb the standing hair back, rounding/molding the top of the hair with your hand to create a curve. Comb the very ends of the pompadour back into the rest of your hair at the crown of your head.
