No matter what the reason, you do not want your car towed away. You could be living in a high-theft area or someone could be trying to repossess the car. If you want your car to stay put, you need to try and stop the process and make it difficult for anyone to tow your car.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Follow all legal regulations regarding towing where you park your car. Be sure that the spots or parking lots you choose have no stipulations against your type of vehicle. While you're at it, make sure the spot is a tight fit for your vehicle.
Step2
Put on the emergency brake, turn your steering wheel all of the way to one side and use a club to lock the car in place. These are standard practices when you want to make it difficult to tow a car.
Step3
Inform apartment building managers and store owners when illegal towing has occurred. The tow truck driver should have to prove illegal parking. This makes it more difficult for the tow truck driver, so he may not single out your car for towing.
Step4
Remove the wheels if you are serious about not having your car towed. This makes towing your car extremely difficult. It does mean, however, that you have to put on 4 tires every morning.

Tips & Warnings

  • Park your car in a garage if you have one. This is your best protection against towing.
  • Towing is extremely expensive, so don't take any chances.
